Östersund is the capital of "the republic" Jämtland. It is beautifully situated by Storsjön and is a summer city and the city closest to skiing paradise Åre. In July every year a big city festival called Storsjöyran, takes place. In 2007, Yran Pride took place for the first time in connection with the festival. RFSL, an LGBT organisation, organise a café in the city, and from time to time, parties.
