The city of Tampere is characterised by its red brick buildings, telling the story of the city's industrial history and of many different architectural styles and directions. Tampere is scenically situated on an isthmus between lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. The city is the third largest in Finland. With its 203 190 inhabitants (in 2005) it's the largest inland city in the Nordic countries.
