In the 16th century Klippan's Works were built by river Rönne å. At that time the village was called Åby but was later renamed Klippan. Important industries have been the papermill, that folded in 2006, leather industry, dairy and brickworks.
Klippan, with its surroundings, is in a typical southern Swedish nature, with farms and beautiful lakes. In the minicipality you also find the towns of Ljungbyhed, Östra Ljungby, Stidsvig, Klippans bruk and Krika.
