Author conversation & signing at the bookshop. Free entrance.

Edmund White is one of the English language's greatest writers of autobiographical novels and the foremost portrayer of male homosexuality in the modern history of the Western world. He is best known for the auto fictional tetralogy that begins with A boy's own story and continues with The Beautiful Room Is Empty, The Farewell Symphony and The Married Man. He has written biographies on Genet, Proust and Rimbaud, and regularly participates in New York Review of Books. A boy's own story is the only book that has been translated into Swedish.

In his latest book, ”Inside a Pearl: My Years in Paris” , he recalls those fertile years, when he in 1983 at the age of 43 moved to Paris, not speaking French and knowing just two people in the entire city. He soon discovered the anxieties and pleasures of mastering a new culture, and offers in the book a brilliant examination of a city and a culture eternally imbued with an aura of enchantment.

Edmund White is visiting the Stockholm Literature festival at Moderna museet:
