Liverpool is situated in the northwest of England, and is a city as well as a metropolitan region. In 2008 it's the cultural capital of Europe. The port of Liverpool is the second largest export port of England, and a big part of the emigration from Europe to America came through Liverpool. The city is better known for its football team and as the birth place of the Beatles. Liverpool also has a good selection gay venues and clubs.
